At Christmas, the Woodland Barn at Alfriston Gardens turns into a warm, glowing dining hall for the night, with high oak beams wrapped in fairy lights, a dressed Christmas tree glowing by the doors, and tables set with festive decorations. It's a modern space with a bi-fold glass wall overlooking the gardens, and has air conditioning, heating, a PA system and its own catering kitchen and bar. Next door in the Century Barn, a 17th-century building with its own exposed-timber character, a modern glass mezzanine gives guests a quieter perch above the party, somewhere to sit back with a drink and watch the partygoers below.
Your private Christmas party at Alfriston Gardens starts with a glass of bubbly or a warming mulled wine, before dinner is served in the Woodland Barn. The menu is created and served by Black Pepper Hospitality, a catering team with more than thirty years in the industry, with a vegetarian option on the table for anyone who needs it. Crackers and hats come out with dessert, and once the plates are cleared, the barn opens up for dancing under the beams and lights.
The Woodland Barn holds up to 155 guests for dinner, but a smaller company can book with a minimum of 60 guests.
Guests who'd rather not travel home can stay over in one of the 24 en-suite bedrooms dotted across the grounds, in lodges and shepherd's huts just a short walk from the barns. Just ask for our special Christmas accommodation rates.
